Tras un poco de inspección, me di cuenta de que el problema parecía estar relacionado con los rodamientos. Estos se encargar de accionar varios componentes esenciales del motor, y una falla ahí podría empeorar las cosas si no lo atendía a tiempo. Me puse en contacto con un el mecánico de confianza, tras explicarle el problema, me sugirió que revisara los tensores de la correa. Era una posibilidad bastante alta, ya que si los tensores no estaban haciendo su trabajo y eso podría causar el ruido.

El mecánico cambió los tensores sin mayor complicación, y también aprovechó para darle un mantenimiento básico al alternador. Aunque el alternador no estaba fallando, siempre es buena idea hacerle una revisión rápida, especialmente porque es una de esas piezas que, cuando fallan, lo hacen de repente y te dejan tirado.
Después de un par de horas, el trabajo estaba hecho. El mecánico encendió el carro y el ruido había desaparecido por completo. Fue un alivio saber que el problema se había resuelto sin tener que hacer una reparación más complicada. Y lo mejor de todo, es que ahora la correa estaba en perfectas condiciones y el alternador funcionando como debe.

A few weeks ago, my car started making a strange noise that I had not heard before. It wasn't that loud, but loud enough to make me realize that something wasn't right. At first I thought it could be something simple, maybe a minor vibration, but the noise persisted every time I turned on the engine, and as the days went by it was increasing due to the fact that days before I went through a puddle in the middle of these persistent rains in Valencia, I think this was what made it wet in a way that affected it in a significant way.
I decided not to let it go any longer as the noise was horrible and set out to investigate what was going on. After a bit of inspection, I realized that the problem seemed to be related to the bearings. These are responsible for driving several essential engine components, and a failure there could make things worse if I didn't attend to it in time. I contacted a trusted mechanic, and after explaining the problem, he suggested that I check the belt tensioners. It was a pretty high possibility, as if the tensioners were not doing their job and that could cause the noise.
With that clue in mind, I plucked up the courage to do a more detailed check. Sure enough, one of the tensioners was worn, and needed to be replaced.
