Arsenal defeated Southampton 3-1 in a Premier League clash on Saturday, extending their unbeaten run this season.Fresh from a commanding win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Arsenal were expected to easily dispatch winless Southampton.

However, the Saints shocked the Emirates 10 minutes into the second half when Cameron Archer netted his first Premier League goal since his summer move from Aston Villa. The lead only lasted three minutes before Kai Havertz scored in his seventh consecutive home game.
Gabriel Martinelli was introduced after an hour and made an impact within eight minutes, volleying home from Bukayo Saka’s cross. After assisting Arsenal’s first two goals, Saka pounced on a loose ball to score the third himself.

One of the highlights of the match was Kai Havertz scoring again at the Emirates. Infact , Kai Havertz becomes the first Arsenal player since Robin van Persie to score in 7 consecutive
home games. This is an impressive individual record for a player like Havertz considering how he had a slow start at the begining of his Arsenal career.

Also for the records , it should be noted that Kai Havertz at Arsenal is one goal contribution away from matching his total goal contributions at Chelsea in the Premier League. At Chelsea he played 91 games with 26 G/A and at Arsenal he has played 44 games with 25 G/A. I'm quite certain Havertz there's still a whole lot up the German star's sleeves , only time will do telling I believe. The way Kai Havertz stepped up when we went 1-0 down was crazy.

During the game yesterday , he decided he needed to take the game by the scruff of the neck got more involved, more selfish, fully dragged us through it and never stopped until the end ..I like that type of character . The thing I loved about the Havertz goal was how he didn’t mess about celebrating. 1-1 and straight back to the centre circle with work to do. Mentality is what I see right there..

How can one not notice Bukayo Saka's tremendous effort and inputs this current season. Even though most rivals do not regard Saka as a world class player which I find rather apalling he has consistently proved that he is no doubt one. A goal and two assists for Bukayo Saka yesterday further proves his starboy attribute.

If one is opportuned to see Saka's creative stats there's no doubt one won't be stunned . This 2024/2025 season has seen Saka register 7 solid assists and he tops the chart on most assists currently this season. Also, he has created 27 chances and ranks first in that category as well. Let's also talk about chances created from open play his got 17 and ranks second in that category.

Since Odeegard's absence Saka has stepped up to be a goal creating machine for the Gunners and that he has done absolutely well.. Saying Saka is not world class is just so unfathomable.

Furthermore , Its always nice to see Martinelli and Saka on the score sheet . That happened yesterday and it felt so nice seeing Saka giving Martinelli an assist. Saka again with an Ozil like pass linked an onside Martinelli at the back of the Saint's defence leaving Ramsdale exposed thereby leading to Arsenal's second goal of the game.

Arteta certainly has done a tremendous job at rejuvenating this Arsenal team. The winning mentality and never say die spirit he has evoked in the boys is second to none . Things can only get better for the boys if they don't take their feet off the pedal. Going into the international break I really just hope none of the players get injured while representing their respective countries .
