Chelsea co-owner, Todd Boehly, has said that he sacked manager Thomas Tuchel because of the German’s unwillingness to buy into a shared vision.

Boehly, together with co-owners Behdad Eghbali and Jose E. Feliciano, had made the surprise choice to sack Tuchel after Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.

The American then appointed former Brighton coach, Graham Potter, to prevail Tuchel.

“When you're taking over any business, You have to ensure you are aligned with the people in the business, and Tuchel is obviously extraordinarily gifted and glaringly someone who had great achievement with Chelsea,” Boehly said, speaking at the SALT Conference in the United States.

“Our vision for the club was to discover a manager who actually desired to collaborate with us, a train who really wanted to collaborate.

“There are a lot of walls to break down at Chelsea. Before, the primary team and academy did not really share data, did not share facts about where the top players were coming from. Our aim is to bring a team together; all of that needs to be a well-oiled machine.

“The truth of our decision was that we were not sure that Thomas noticed it the same way we saw it. No one is right or wrong, we simply did not have a shared vision for the future. It was not about Zagreb, it was about the shared vision for what we desired Chelsea to appearance like.

“It was not a decision that was made due to a single win or loss. It was a decision that we thought was the proper vision for the club.”
