I saw this contest on the day it was posted and I don't know how I let procastination to deal with me, I almost missed 🙇
I'm a typical fan of "local football", maybe that's not the ideal name but I mean national football team reps on big tournaments such as FIFA world Cup(men & women), AFCON(men & women) and Olympic tournaments.
Although my current national teams have not been meeting up to standard compared to our past glories but I always have this joy to see them play, whether they're winning or loosing. Isn't that the favoritism we are talking about?
Normally, picking a favorite athlete in the whole world should have been based on fame & enticing carrier, just to feel among the list of those that know what's up, but for me it works differently. My favourite athlete is a Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen.
You may say, "but he has fame already and I'm not different from the people that choose Messi, Ronaldo, Mbape". Let me tell you, it's not today I started following this guy, I started celebrating him from the FIFA Under 17 World Cup 2015 when he won the Golden boot. I'm a local football fan you know 🙄.

This guy made his debut in Nigeria senior national team in 2017 and played in AFCON 2019 in Egypt. Ever since then, he became a player I every other Nigerian don't joke with.
During AFCON 20222 when he was ruled out of the called up list due to covid19, we felt stabbed because we had high hope on his passion for goals. This act from Napoli actually made me to hate Napoli team because we heard it was an underground work from the team to rule him out.
Mehn! We missed him during that tournament because his presence alone usually sends shiver to the spine of the opponent.
I don't have plans of saying about his trending efforts in Napoli club right now because the world is aware already.

Super eagles lost to Guinea-Bissau with a goal and Victor Osimhen was among the players on pitch.
Before the match when the call up list was released, we all entered into jubilation seeing his name among the players selected to battle with Guinea-Bissau.

You know the feeling of watching your favorite play in a tournament that you love? I was so happy.
When he arrived Abuja to join others for training, the news noise abroad and I'm sure the Guinea-Bissau people got their hearts troubled.
Although we lost to Guinea-Bissau but I felt excited seeing this guy causing troubles for the opponent's defence.
If the list continues, the next is still from Nigeria and a female 🥰.
