D-Rose is back in Memphis š¹š»
I couldnāt have predicted this. Everyone assumed that Derrick Rose would be leaving the New York Knicks in favor of heaving back home to Chicago to end his career. That could still happen, but not so soon as he just signed a 2-year deal with my Memphis Grizzlies.
In todayās video, Iāll talk about why I think he is the perfect free agent for the Grizzlies. They traded away Tyus Jones for Marcus Smart and Ja Morant will be suspended for the first 25 games. A veteran point guard is a smart choice.
Rose still has some game left in him, although heās nothing like he was back when he won MVP at the age of 23. After injuries, he is a totally different player. I think he will play more of a mentor role for the team, especially Ja Morant who seems to struggle to stay out of trouble. Rose will also be seeing some decent playing time to start the season with Ja out. Thatās as long as Rose can stay healthy. We shall see.
The Grizzlies only had one roster spot left and Iām happy to see a respectable veteran like Rose be the one to fill the spot.
I donāt expect Memphis to do any other significant transactions this off-season, but you never know. I feel like the only guys I could accept being traded at this point would be Jake LaRavia or Zaire Williams. Other than that, this Grizzlies roster is packed with the perfect blend of players to win the franchiseās first-ever championship. Next season is going to be very exciting as a Grizzlies fan.
What do you think about Derrick Rose being back down in Memphis for the first time since he played college at the University of Memphis way back in 2007-08?
Comment below. I know Iām hyped to have the guy on the squad.
