Everton Football Club Relegation Bound?

source

Not someone to write teams off this early with in Everton's case 19 matches still to play. The problem is Newcastle are below them and one would expect a decent transfer spend this month to save them. Norwich are below them and they just lost to them so a 6 point swing. Everton have to score points from clubs below them or they are dead and buried.

Everton Football Club fired Rafael Benitez after just only 6 months having replaced Carlo Ancelotti. The club is not in great financial shape if you read between the lines and are in trouble on and off the pitch.

I only started looking into where they are after reading reports the club is looking at Rooney and Lampard as their manager. We all know this won't end well as what are they going to bring to the table Benitez couldn't do?

Firstly they have no experience and are the cheaper options available to the board. Chelsea did this with Lampard earlier in his managerial career and would be a fool to take this post.

Benitez was on a short 15 month contract costing the club in excess of 1.2 million pounds per month. I can see the temptation in finding a cheaper manager, but they need experience now more than ever.

Digging deeper Everton spent 1.6 million last summer in the last transfer window which is nothing into comparison what the other sides have done. How bad is Everton broke the Premier League record for the lowest amount ever spent by a club during the summer window.

Every single player that arrived last summer was on a free transfer and is more like a last hurrah before players retire or end up on the scrap heap. Clubs need to constantly add or remove players if they are going to improve their prospects.

Maybe Rooney or Lampard is their last hope as the squad as it stands will struggle to stay up with what they have. Lampard knows how to deal with young academy players and Rooney was an Everton Academy player before he hit the big time so maybe there is some hope. The Academy looks to be the clubs last hope and unearthing talent to fit into the current first team. One would have though Benitez has already looked into this however and why their cupboards are most likely bare of any talent.

Maybe they should be concentrating on the team more instead of building a new stadium.

There were reports suggesting Everton had managed to find £30million to spend on players this transfer window. In todays transfer market that is more like 1 or possibly 2 players at the most. This is not enough to save their season and can see the likes of Newcastle, Watford and Norwich leap frogging them over the coming weeks.

The season is only half way for Everton having played 19 games exactly with 19 to go. 5 wins from 19 matches played leaves them in a perilous position knowing their squad and their finances.

Proof Money Doesn't Guarantee Silverware

Everton ironically have spent £526 million on players since 2016 and are known for their big spending. Only Manchester City spent more than them over the last 5 years. Everton have the 12th costliest squad in Europe and honestly one would never guess that as they are showing no quality. Where has the money all gone and on who?

Chasing silverware is high risk and this has definitely back fired as instead of winning trophies they are now most definitely in a relegation battle. Benitez would have been the one to keep if that is the case as he knows all about relegation being at Newcastle.
