So I went public with my bet on the Sydney Roosters to win the 2024 NRL Premiership a few weeks ago and the very next game they lost their starting halfback and hooker to season ending injuries. They limped into the Finals Series and lost their opening final against heavyweights Penrith Panthers 30-10 but this weekend that's just passed they knocked over the Manly Sea-Eagles 40-16 so they're not out of it yet...
On the weekend they got back a couple of key forwards who were out with minor injuries and suspension. Enforcers Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Victor Radley both returned to the side and that helped give the Roosters enough muscle to build a solid foundation and put on a big score. The replacement players at halfback and hooker also got a big game under their belt and the team is making good adjustments so hope is not lost.
This weekend the Roosters play the Melbourne Storm in Melbourne and that's a pretty tough assignment. I still think they are a decent chance of upsetting the Minor Premiers in that game and if they can make it into the Grand Final for a rematch with Penrith Panthers then there is certainly a possibility of winning that one too.
In the Betting Markets they are currently around the 10.00 mark where I had initially backed them at 4.30 so I am in the red but a win this weekend will give me a hedge-able position for the Grand Final. That's what I'm hoping for.
