Ladies and gentlemen, Cristopher Sánchez is THAT GUY.

He indeed broke the Phillies' record for consecutive scoreless innings pitched which was set by Grover Cleveland Alexander 115 years ago!!! The record was 41 innings and now it sits at 44 2/3 and counting. I wonder if Grover knew just how long this record would last?! For a bit of perspective, if Sánchez's team record holds as long as Alexander's did, it wouldn't be broken until 2141! It's a honor to even write about really. Records like this really keep people's names alive, pretty cool. When sports nerds like me talk about stats and records often, times like these really feel special.
I was worried at first that Sánchez wouldn't succeed because he was in trouble in the very first inning on Wednesday, but he got out of it thankfully.
The MLB record for consecutive scoreless innings pitched is 59 set by Orel Hershiser in 1988. It would be truly legendary if Sánchez could pull that off!
Once again, congratulations Cristopher Sánchez! Keep it up!
The Phillies' offense has been getting carried by this Phillies pitching staff, but that's ok! Pitching is an incredibly important aspect of the game. The team is winning and hopefully the offense wakes up soon too.
Zack Wheeler has been good recently as well, it just so happens that Cristopher Sánchez has been pitching at a historic level and Wheeler only somewhat recently returned, so Wheeler's performances are going mildly under te radar.
The Phillies will be tested big time against the defending World Series Champion Los Angeles Dodgers tonight! They already swept one NL West team, if they were to sweep the Dodgers too it would blow my mind!
