Coelophora inaequalis is a species of moth in the Erebidae family. It is commonly known as the dissimilar laelapid moth or the red-brown coelophora. This species is found in the southwestern United States, including Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas, as well as in Mexico.

Adult moths have a wingspan of about 2-2.5 inches (5-6 cm) and are usually reddish-brown in color. They have distinctive markings on their wings, including wavy stripes and spots. The larvae of Coelophora inaequalis feed on a variety of plants, including various species of oak (Quercus), as well as hackberries (Celtis) and redbud (Cercis).

Coelophora inaequalis undergoes complete metamorphosis, with the larvae developing through several instars before pupating and finally becoming adult moths.
