While I was in my sister's room, a butterfly flew in happily, I followed her and she took me to the balcony, where she perched on my rosemary plant. Not wanting to miss the opportunity to photograph her, I quickly went to get my phone. She or he stayed calm and started modeling for me.
I searched on the Internet but unfortunately I didn't find any photos that could help me identify her scientific name. Looking at her closely I noticed that it wasn't a butterfly but a moth. This brown and yellow moths are very common in my city and I have almost always seen them when it's sunset.
To differentiate a butterfly from a moth, you have to look at their antennae and wings. Butterfly antennae are thread-thin but thick at the ends while moth antennae can be straight or feather-like or comb-like. As for the wings, with some exceptions, moths have shorter wings and they always rest them open, unlike butterflies whose wings are usually larger and they fold them up on their backs when they are in a resting position.
When it comes to colors, while not all moths look dull and gray, they can hardly compete with the colorful patterns of their butterfly relatives.
I hope you liked it and for those who didn't know how to distinguish a butterfly from a moth, now they can do it easily. If anyone knows the scientific name of this moth I would love to know it.
