Hoy luego de mi larga caminata, visité una frutería para llevar algo a casa. mientras observaba la mercancía miraba al mismo tiempo un grupo de avispas que volaban encima de unos cambures muy maduros.
Today, after my long walk, I visited a fruit shop to take something home. While observing the merchandise, I looked at a group of wasps flying over some very ripe bananas.
Llamaron mi atención dos cosas, la primera fue el tamaño de la avispa y lo segundo, su color rojo casi marrón o vino tinto con alas oscuras casi negras.
Two things caught my attention, the first was the size of the wasp and the second, its red color almost brown or red wine with dark wings almost black.
Según leí, este tipo de avispas son nativas de Estados Unidos. No son las más grandes de su especie, ni tampoco su picadura es más agresiva.
As I read, these types of wasps are native to the United States. They are not the largest of their species, nor is their sting more aggressive.
Esta hermosura de impactante color se mostraba ansiosa ante tantas frutas, creo que buscaba la forma de tomar un bocado del banano aunque realmente no se alimentan de ellos. Las avispas son carnívoras, atrapan y comen insectos como las moscas las cuales abundan en estos espacios.
This beauty of impressive color was anxious about so many fruits, I think she was looking for a way to take a bite of the banana even though they don't really feed on them. Wasps are carnivores, they catch and eat insects like flies which are abundant in these spaces.
Trataba el audaz insecto de ver por dónde extraía un poco de la dulce y suave fruta pero, no la tenía tan fácil. Los vendedores de la tienda para evitar sus molestias, las espantan o las matan.
The bold insect tried to see where he could extract some of the sweet, soft fruit, but it was not so easy. The salesmen in the shop, to avoid their discomfort, scare them off or kill them.
