Imaginen poder recibir una conferencia sobre Bitcoin de la mano de uno de los ponentes en el proximo evento Bitcoin 2022 que tendrá lugar en Miami. Pues así me sentí yo al estar dos horas escuchando dicha charla junto a emprendedores, artistas y amantes de las criptomonedas en Cuba. Aquí les voy a dar mi opinión desde mi experiencia en el evento
Erich García, quien se define a sí mismo como programador, youtuber, tecnólogo, bitcoiner, CEO de Qvapay y desde hace poco embajador de Coinex; fue el organizador de este evento. Aunque también podemos decir que ha sido el embajador de las criptomonedas en Cuba y no solo por las plataformas que ha creado donde las podemos utilizar, sino por usar ademas su canal de YouTube llamada BacheCubano y las distintas plataformas que usa para promocionar el buen uso de las criptomonedas y tratar de prevenir las estafas. El evento se baso en distintas conferencias donde se abarcaron temas como el Bitcoin, el Metaverso y los NFT.
Bitcoin en Cuba
La primera de estas conferencias fue presentada por Erich, donde durante dos horas nos hablo inicialmente sobre el surgimiento del Bitcoin, los sucesos o anécdotas que han rodeado a esta criptomoneda desde que comienza a ser usada, y las ventajas y desventajas del uso de Bitcoin. Erich explico como las criptomonedas pueden y están ocupando espacios cada vez mayores dentro de la sociedad cubana y su economía, señalando ciertos nichos activos como el envío de remesas, el cobro en algunos negocios, el pago de salarios y el trading.
Se habló sobre como esta necesidad surge en Cuba a partir de que en agosto de 2020 la empresa de remesas Wester Union deja de trabajar en Cuba y se abre las puertas al uso de las criptomonedas para esta función. Es de ahí que nace BitRemesas, una plataforma creada por Erich que explota este modelo que quedo vacío a partir de ese momento. Los cubanos desde Cuba no podemos acceder a plataformas de pago como PayPal o stripe como la gran parte del mundo hace, la solución que tenemos es el Bitcoin, ningún gobierno o institución puede limitarnos a usarlo y es ahí donde cada vez toma mas importancia en Cuba el uso de esta tecnología, en su carácter liberador.
Hablando sobre Hive en el evento
Aunque no fui con esa intención, hubo momentos en los que pude hablar sobre Hive y la comunidad @hive-10053 a varios de estos emprendedores y artistas que participaron en el evento. Entre @noakmilo, que es parte de la comunidad, y yo pudimos transmitir un poco a estas personas sobre Hive, muchas se quedaron con mi contacto para con mas calma poder explicarles sobre su blockchain y ecosistema. Espero poder participando en espacios de este tipo donde podamos llegar a mas cubanos y porque no crear espacios de este tipo enfocados a Hive en un futuro.

Imagine being able to receive a lecture on Bitcoin from one of the speakers at the next Bitcoin 2022 event to be held in Miami. Well, that's how I felt when I spent two hours listening to this talk together with entrepreneurs, artists and cryptocurrency lovers in Cuba. Here I am going to give you my opinion from my experience at the event.
Erich Garcia, who defines himself as a programmer, youtuber, technologist, bitcoiner, CEO of Qvapay and since recently ambassador of Coinex; was the organizer of this event. Although we can also say that he has been the ambassador of cryptocurrencies in Cuba and not only for the platforms he has created where we can use them, but also for using his YouTube channel called BacheCubano and the various platforms he uses to promote the proper use of cryptocurrencies and try to prevent scams. The event was based on different conferences where topics such as Bitcoin, Metaverse and NFT were covered.
Bitcoin in Cuba
The first of these conferences was presented by Erich, where during two hours he initially talked about the emergence of Bitcoin, the events or anecdotes that have surrounded this cryptocurrency since it began to be used, and the advantages and disadvantages of using Bitcoin. Erich explained how cryptocurrencies can and are occupying increasingly larger spaces within Cuban society and its economy, pointing out certain active niches such as sending remittances, payment in some businesses, payment of salaries and trading.
They talked about how this need arises in Cuba since in August 2020 the remittance company Wester Union stops working in Cuba and opens the doors to the use of cryptocurrencies for this function. It is from there that BitRemesas was born, a platform created by Erich that exploits this model that was left empty from that moment on. Cubans from Cuba can not access payment platforms like PayPal or Stripe as most of the world does, the solution we have is the Bitcoin, no government or institution can limit us to use it and that is where the use of this technology becomes increasingly important in Cuba, in its liberating character.
Talking about Hive at the event
Although I didn't go with that intention, there were moments when I was able to talk about Hive and the @hive-10053 community to several of these entrepreneurs and artists who participated in the event. Between @noakmilo, who is part of the community, and myself we were able to transmit a little bit to these people about Hive, many stayed with my contact to more calmly explain to them about their blockchain and ecosystem. I hope to be able to participate in this type of spaces where we can reach more Cubans and why not create spaces of this type focused on Hive in the future.
