THE HOOVER DAM

On this day, 1931 the construction of the Hoover dam. It took 21,000 men about 5years to complete. The dam was initially called BOULDER DAM. It was then named after the US president Herbert Hoover.It is Located in Clark County, Nevada / Mohave County, Arizona, U.S. It was Purposed to be used as Power, flood control, water storage,regulation,recreation. Construction began in 1931 and was opened in 1946. The construction took hundreds of lives of men. The project cost was about $49 million(1931) due to money and inflation it costs about $700m(2017). image

It is owned by the US government and run by U.S Burea of Reclamation .
