You must have heard the saying "If we do not remember the past we are condemned to repeat it".
This has always annoyed me.
I take the attitude that it would be a considerable help if we actually KNEW the truth about the past.
As it happens, we are told lies upon lies about everything that has happened.
Therefore, my conclusion is that we cannot avoid repeating the past because we do not know diddly squat about it.
