Ganesha the obstacle remover!

Ganesha is the son of the goddess Parvati and the god Shiva, he is one of the most well-known and worshiped gods of the Hindu pantheon, He has human body and elephant head, He is widely revered as an obstacle remover, patron of the arts, sciences and lord of abundance. One day, Parvati entrusted Ganesha with custody of the palace while she took a bath. It was just in those moments that Shiva returned home, to meet a young man he did not recognize and who did not allow him to enter his own home. Angry, Shiva cut off his son's head without knowing who he really was. Later and before the weeping of the disconsolate mother, Shiva promised Parvati that she would go down to earth and replace the head of her son with that of the first being she found, and this case was an elephant.

It is said that Ganesha has the power to remove the obstacles of our material and spiritual path. Today, his image can often be seen protecting houses in India, where he is invoked for example before taking a trip or an exam. For Ganesha is the god of roads, wisdom and letters, a god who considers himself a protector and giver of good luck. It is also known by the name of Ganapati. In the context of our yoga practice chanting a mantra dedicated to him, as "Om Gam Ganapataye Namah" can help us invoke that energy of overcoming obstacles that we all have within.
