Menace of Fulani Herdsmen in Nigeria

Fulani is an ethnic group in africa located in the sahel and semi-arid parts of west africa in countries like Nigeria, Niger, Senegal and Guinea etc
Fulani herdsmen are nomadic or semi nomadic herders whose primary occupation is raising livestock. They engage in random movement and planned transhumance movement for those practicing semi nomadic. they migrate to reach areas with abundant grass and water for their cattle, also to avoid harmful insect and hostile weather. Cattle is dominant composition of the fulani herd in Nigeria. The fulani women play roles like milking cows, weaving and mat making while the men are the herders.
Fulani herdsmen in Nigeria are often accused of being heartless and controversial due to their frequent clashes with local farmers. Herdsmen move around in search of grazing site for there cattle and in the process allow there cattle to destroy hectares of farmland worth millions of naira. This always lead to fight between the fulani herdsmen and the local farmers. In order to payback, the local farmers kill and steal their cattle and it always end in bloodshed with case study of what is happening in Nigeria like the Benue and Taraba state incident in which many people were murdered by the fulani herdsmen.

These fulani herdsmen in Nigeria now move around armed with sophisticated guns on slightest provocation make them to kill. In Nigeria, they now act as if they own it. Many Nigerians believe fulani herdsmen value their cattle more than human life. They invade hostile communities, rape their women and kill people.
