Aweeis a group of palms from tribes (tribus) Calameae who have climbing habitus, especially Calamus, Daemonorops, and Oncocalamus. Puak Calameae itself consists of around six hundred members, with distribution areas in the tropical parts of Aceh, Africa, Asia and Australasia. this clan also includes the Salacca clan (for example barking), Metroxylon (for example rumbia / sago), and Pigafetta which does not climb. and traditionally not classified as rattan.(see: )
