The language of ivrit ( עברית ) Genesis 27, Post #7

Welcome to my Hebrew reading & language series.

Genesis 27:30-32

We pick up our story as Jacob exits the room, still in his Halloween costume.

Isaac is full, satisfied, and can now die because he has blessed Esau... Oh, wait. Here comes Esau with delicious freshly killed game. Isaac is very old and cannot see very well, so he asked who it is that is coming to see him. And now he hears the voice of his first born twin.

As I said many times, the blessing was gone on that fateful day when Esau came in and was hungry. He needed immediate food and agreed to sell his birthright for it. Rebekah's trick today did not steal anything. It had been given weeks or months earlier.

Today's reading

English

As soon as Isaac had finished blessing Jacob, when Jacob had scarcely gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, Esau his brother came in from his hunting. He also prepared delicious food and brought it to his father. And he said to his father, "Let my father arise and eat of his son's game, that you may bless me." His father Isaac said to him, "Who are you?" He answered, "I am your son, your firstborn, Esau."
