Eye Health

Sorry for the creepy picture...

The eyes are under siege.... yes with computers, phones and eye-wear, the average person is incrementally weakening their eyes.

But there are certain things you can do to exercise and offset some of these issues.

First and foremost get ff the computer or phone and relax them a bit each hour.  Your eye muscles constrict when you read or look at close objects, especially with incoming light.  They relax when they look into the distance or less light is incoming.

So if you are in a constricted condition for long time periods the eyes will strain, you need to work them just like tyou work your body muscles.  So we need to change range, motion and exercise our ciliary muscle (which controls the expansion or constriction of the eyes lens..

Glasses can weaken the eyes as well as they become more dependent and lazy so to say.  You need to go outside and take off the glasses, focus on distant objects to relax or close at say, flowers to constrict.  Look all around with your eyes to maintain good range of motion as opposed to a single focal point and range of a screen.

Some other things to help are Blinking, which keep the eyes cleansed and fresh.  The darkness helps relax the eyes as well as the pupil dilates... even brief blinks will help.

Place your palms on your eyes (I know you already instinctively do this), but do it more as it lowers your blood pressure which is beneficial for over constriction and strain.

Focusing exercises that develop the rapid change of near to far sight.  You can do this in minutes.  Hold somethingup in front of you about a foot or closer away.  Focus on it then switch to something 15 feet in front of you, change periodically like for one breath each range.

I had a lazy eye as a kid and I used to do this exercise daily and it worked perfectly (doctor recommended exercise, when doctors used to do stuff like that instead of recommend prescription, glasses or pills).

Also the diet can help, make sure you get some essential nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids (fish or fish oil), luetin (green veggies but also fruits), Vitamin C, A and Zinc.

In the Ba Duan Jin exercise ( https://steemit.com/health/@kyusho/ba-duan-jin-qigong) there is a piece called staring for a thousand miles... They new this way back then!

Now that you read this, take a break and look to a new horizon... in the distance.
