3-Ingredient Happy Hour: A Simple Daiquiri

Happy weekend, everyone, and welcome back to 3-Ingredient Happy Hour, the weekly drink column featuring super simple yet delicious libations. This we’re making an often misunderstood classic beverage: the daiquiri.

I don’t know exactly when it happened, but somewhere along the way, the word “daiquiri” became a catch-all term for any sweet, rum-containing beverage with some sort of fruit flavoring. Many of these saccharine-sweet creations are served frozen, in large goblets. Sometimes there are swirls of syrup. None of these, my friends, can hold a candle to a true daiquiri, which is a startlingly simple beverage consisting only of rum, lime, and simple syrup. To make it, you will need:

2 ounces light rum
1 ounce fresh lime juice
1 ounce simple syrup
Pour everything into a shaker with some ice (or one big cube) and shake vigorously until it’s quite cold. Strain into a coupe glass, and enjoy.
