Why spiritual things make no sense to you.

Why spiritual things make no sense to you.

After my last post about spiritual warfare, I realized there are many people who have no idea about such things. Perhaps you are one of them. Maybe you have read the Bible and it just didn’t do anything for you, perhaps you even detested it. There is a reason for this and if you have a few minutes I would like to explain it by the scripture itself. I have been there and wish I had someone to explain this to me. If you will bear with me I think I can explain it and hopefully even rectify it. The things of God are deep and unending and God desires we search for them. Let this be a drop of water in a dry and dusty land that leads you to the well of the depths and riches of God the father, Jesus the son and the person of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus spoke in parables for a reason: to protect us from what we do not understand.
“Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.”
This is Jesus talking to His disciples when they inquired about the parable of the sower and the seed. Let’s read that real quick:
Luke 8:1-9King James Version (KJV)
8 And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him,
2 And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,
3 And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.
4 And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable:
5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.
6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.
7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.
8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
9 And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?
10Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
12 Those by the wayside are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
16 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.
17 For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.
18 Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.

God reveals things to us individually as we are ready for them. He does this because we will be held accountable for the knowledge we acquire and what we did with it.
I have wondered about this as you probably have too. How will He judge some tribe that has never heard of Jesus? Surely a God of love is not going to send them to hell for what they do not know. Taking into account that Christianity is firm in the assertion that Jesus is the only way to the Kingdom of God and the Father and Heaven.
Romans chapter one explains this. Please say a little prayer for understanding before you read it.

Romans 1King James Version (KJV)
1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,
2 (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)
3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
6 Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:
7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.
9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;
10 Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.
11 For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;
12 That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.
13 Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.
14 I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise.
15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Lets address verses 18-23 remembering the tribe that never heard the gospel or anything of God’s word. He is saying here that creation itself is revealing a creator. It smacks in the face of evolution! In simple terms why would you worship a bird, or a person for the glorious creature they are and not answer the deeper thought your mind surely asked “who created this marvelous machine?” well maybe not machine but anyone in their right mind can see the intricacies of a living being are too refined to be an accident. Primordial goo or stardust most certainly did not fall together perfectly. I will not argue that point because that goes nowhere. As verses 21-23 clearly state if you insist on believing that your heart will be darkened, God himself will call you a fool and you will bear the punishments listed in 24-32. Oh beloved, please stop here and ponder on this pivotal point of your eternal destination and your mental stability in this life. Selah means pause and calmly think on this. SELAH!!!
Remember what was said in the parable of the sower! This is the point where satan will try to come and steal this truth from you because it can save you from being on his side of salvation.
11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

Now a word about scripture, from scripture:
2 Peter 1:15-21King James Version (KJV)

15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.
16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Peter is speaking in verse eighteen of the Mount of Transfiguration if you have heard that term. It was the Father God Himself speaking to them. Then in verse nineteen through twenty one he pivots to speak of the written word. In Hebrews chapter one and two also touch on this subject:

Hebrews 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:
4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
And from Hebrews chapter 2:
Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.
6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man that thou visitest him?
7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:
8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.
9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.
13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.
14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

As you can see I have trouble cutting out scripture as it all seems so vital, but in chapter two the main point for this discussion are verses one through three. It makes the point that scripture was once spoken by the prophets and angels but now we also have the written word. It is a serious thing to hold the word in unrighteousness and that is why Jesus veiled some truths in parables. It was a very kind thing.
Now I want to wrap up by telling you that to interpret the word the Holy Spirit is necessary. The Holy Spirit comes when you ask Jesus to come into your life. Not only agreeing that He was a great man or prophet but that He is the only way to be saved. It is a great truth that He died to bare the penalty for the sins of the whole world but as individuals it is a personal decision to acknowledge we ourselves are sinners and need a saviour. That is a huge topic and not the point of this article. You definitely need to delve into it and I will most definitely write about that soon. I want to wrap up by giving you the scripture that explains why it seems foolish to you unless and until you have the Holy Spirit to assist you.
I Corinthians 1:17-31 King James Version (KJV)
17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

It is my sincerest hope and prayer that this article gets you thinking and following God the father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. As I said in the beginning you may not have understood my article about spiritual warfare and this is a thread that leads to an understanding of all that.
In the meantime I have the worst flu I have had in my life! I am a mother of five and I always say I have the mom gene and I don’t get sick. I can tell when my body is fighting whatever the family may have picked up. I think God gives us special blessing to care for the others. I am alone now, the children are grown and don’t live with me. I honestly think this is an attack because I intend to keep writing articles about God and His ways. It, the flu, has been so bad I couldn’t do anything at all. It literally felt like I had a fish bowl on my head. I had a high fever and my ears are still popping. My nose is, oh nevermind, too gross but it is also trying to gather in my lungs. I am in no ways healed but I think I am on the upswing. If you are a prayer I would appreciate you praying for me to get well. I need to function and this fog of mind, due to sinus pressure I guess, is preventing me from even trying to function. That is why I have not posted for a few days. Also why this article is not as deep as I probably should have gone. I think it is funny people complain about short posts as I prefer them. When I scroll and see something is ten or twenty pages long I stress about it. If it is something or someone I desire to ascribe to that is. If I don’t know the author or am not grabbed by the heading forget it! I am a one page kind of girl! So for those of you who lean towards the smaller posts I apologize if this is too long. I hope it does what I intended and the people who need it will find it. Although most of my posts go entirely unread. LOL, there’s actually a kind of comfort in that as well. If you have made it this far, and you think it may be of service to someone who is searching for God and stumbling over thinking it is all foolishness, please upvote it.
