The backlash over the Greece - Skopje name deal is unprecedent.
Anywhere the SYRIZA-ANEL MPs, ministers, and cadres go, in Greece and even abroad, the Greeks let them know the common sentiment. That any name deal containing the name ‘Macedonia’ is treasonous.
The Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras in not excluded from this backlash. On the first day on his London trip, Tsipras was met with a small crowd of protesters outside the Hellenic Centre. Below is video of the crowd’s reaction to Tsipras:
I couldn’t hear it in this video, but www.makeleio.gr reports that there was addition shouting directed at Tsipras such as “Traitor, you sold-out Macedonia, give Cyprus away too!” and “You sold-out Macedonia for 30 silver pieces!” Following this shouting, the crowd symbolically threw change.
