This post is a response to the question ["In your opinion, is artificial intelligence truly the best path towards a smarter and more efficient future?"] (@mackenziejones/week-10-questions-artificial-intelligence) posed by @mackenziejones.

Honestly, I am not sure it will turn out to be the best path, but I think it will happen regardless of what majority of people think. I think it will take over more and more jobs which I think is what people worry about the most. I also believe that with artificial intelligence will come new jobs because there will have to be creators, maintainers, and eventually people to help with the recycling of artificial intelligence robots.

How Will Artificial Intelligence Effect the People?

By having artificial intelligence, I believe it will give our smartest people a chance to expand in other areas to improve our society. We will have better efficiency and give people better jobs. We will grow into a new economy with less factory jobs and more skilled jobs. Dr. Richards talked about how he believes that every unskilled labor job will eventually turn into an artificial intelligence robot’s job. I agree. It might take years upon years, but I believe we will get there. I think this will give entrepreneurs a chance to expand their ideas rapidly with the available labor. I do not think there will ever come a time that we all just sit around and do leisure activities all the time. There is always a drive to create the next best thing and for people to build something they are proud of. I do not think people could fill all their time if no one had to work. I think many would get bored after a while of having nothing in particular to do.

How Do We Prepare?

After listening to Dr. Richards, the real question is how do we fully prepare for this transformation? I think the answer is that we simply just cannot. We can take our best guess and shoot for there, but that does not mean that is where we will end up. The truth is that we can only evolve over time like we have been over the last hundreds of years.
