MESSAGE FROM MEMO:
1 SAMUEL 25:6 (ESV)
And thus you shall greet him: ‘Peace be to you, and peace be to your house, and peace be to all that you have.
When prophet Samuel who anointed David king over Israel instead of Saul died and was buried; David rose and went down to the wilderness of Paran. Probably running from Saul the king in place. He must of course go down to the wilderness of Paran with members of his immediate family, his servants and members of his military squad.
The wilderness is not a comfortable place to be. A place of scarce water and food.
There was a very rich man called NABAL whose shearers were shearing his sheep in Carmel. When David heard of this, he sent his men to NABAL for help.
So David sent ten young men. And David said to the young men, “Go up to Carmel, and go to Nabal and greet him in my name. 6 And thus you shall greet him: ‘Peace be to you, and peace be to your house, and peace be to all that you have. 7 I hear that you have shearers. Now your shepherds have been with us, and we did them no harm, and they missed nothing all the time they were in Carmel. 8 Ask your young men, and they will tell you. Therefore let my young men find favor in your eyes, for we come on a feast day. Please give whatever you have at hand to your servants and to your son David.’”_ SAMUEL 25:5-8
David at this time has bee anointed king of Israel by the revered prophet of GOD of Israel yet he did not send his servants to Nabal the rich with a command for help as the king.
Hear King David; "Peace be to you, and peace be to your house, and peace be to all that you have.
Nabal's response to David, David's action and the intervention of Abigail, Nabal's wife is a matter for another day.
Those in power should learn to handle power with fear of God.
