CONFUSED: A Watercolour Painting

Hello everyone! Let me introduce my newest painting. I named her Confused. (I usually refer to my paintings as a girl as if they are my babies) because of the outcome of the painting. The materials i used are Prang and Marie's watercolour, and Prisma colour pencils .

They said that a proper water control is a must in order to achieve the texture you wanted. I just wet on dry technique here, in which you will let th first layers of the watercolor painting to dry before adding another layer. This can give your painting transparency dimensions.

So here's the images of my progress in painting this piece.

Why I started to draw her eyes, it seems like she is staring at something and looks like confused. And then I add the skin.

As you can see, there are layers of paints on her skin. I used white and orange to achieve the skin tone and added violet later on.

After painting her face, i added the outline for her hair. I planned to make her hair white so i just used the color of the paper for that. Then I add the details to define her hair.

I added another color to make the piece more alive.

For the finishing touches, I painted a black background to illuminate the subject.

To give details on her eyes, I used Prismacolor pencil to add shine and dimension on that part.

And this is her now, framed.
