Krabitown: This is where you should stay in Krabi

When a vast majority of people come to Krabi they all head to the beach and I am here to tell you why you should not do this.

Krabi isn't just a beach area. Many people presume that it is just one place but it actually a province (one of 76 i think) and there are actually many places to stay in it.

Whilst visiting Ao nang, Phi-Phi, Nopparat-Thara, Khao Lak, Klong Muang, Tub Kaek, or a wide variety of other places you are still actually visiting Krabi..... and there is one place most people bypass and they really shouldn't.

The reason why people should at least consider staying in Krabi-town is because it is real Thailand. When i say "real" Thailand i mean that that goes on there would continue to go on with or without tourism. The morning markets, the night markets, and the festivals that take place have little to do with whether or not people happen to be visiting from abroad.

Therefore, if someone is booking their holiday / vacation to try to experience something different I would say that this is very unlikely to happen if they are visiting a popular tourist beach.

The other reason that someone should consider staying in Krabi-town is because the prices for accommodation are going to be considerably lower than staying at tourist beaches. There is a reason why a vast majority of the customers in Krabi-town happen to be Thais: They know about the inflated tarrifs charged at the beaches and we, as travelers do not.

All of Krabi-town is on the river and there is a wonderful walking street that takes you past this and many places that have been intentionally set up to have art and displays available to anyone who is visiting.

If someone is concerned about missing out on "ocean stuff" while visiting you need to keep in mind that the popular beach areas, especially Ao Nang, are not necessarily closer to the things that are featured in advertisements. You are also MUCH more likely to be charged more for these things if staying at the beaches as opposed to staying in the town, which is in many cases closer and more convenient to reach the island trips than staying at the beach.

You can expect to pay as low as $8 a night if staying in K-town (that is what we call it.) There is no chance you will pay this little at the beach areas.

I am just trying to save you some money.

As always i welcome your responses and will reward those who correct my spelling and grammer.
