A Way Out - How much you've cried? [Let's Play Games #71]

Hello gaming buddies! šŸŽ®
I hope you are having a nice start of a new week with lots of gaming and relaxing moments!
šŸ’š

While I have hundreds of games played so far in the over 10 years since I started playing games, somehow, it's always hard to decide which game I should review every Monday, just because there are so many names I get in my head wanting to write about that it turns out as a big challenge to only pick one, lol.

However, today I'd like to talk about another co-op game that perhaps you already played or heard about, but since I had a blast completing this one with my sister, I can't step away from writing my thoughts about it and my whole experience playing A Way Out.

If you are one of the kids born before 2000, you might remember those times when playing a multiplayer or co-op game with your best friend and when you had to literally split the monitor in two with a cardboard that won't allow you to cheat seeing the rest of the screen, lol.

Anyway, this time the whole game will have this kind of split-screen which will help you see both the character you are playing with but also the one controlled by your friend, the single exception being made when there is a cinematic and of course it will be played on the whole screen.

A Way Out starts with the story of two men who are in jail that become friends pretty fast with the single thought of escaping from that place as soon as possible. As you might already figured out, both you and the other person you are playing the game with will have to decide what character you want to play between Leo and Vincent.

However, while Leo seems like being a person that doesn't really like making friends and it's able to do anything it takes to get out of the prison, Vincent doesn't let himself be outdone by wanting the same thing Leo does even though the game starts with him just being brought by a bus in the prison.

One interesting thing about A Way Out is that you won't need to have the game purchased if your friend already owns it because he can bring you to the game and let you play it from start to the finish without owning it, which is a feature that I'd like to see in more co-op games because sometimes it really doesn't make too much sense having a group of 4 people needed to buy the same game when it will be enough to be owned by one and still enjoy the game the same way but with a little more money in your pocket to buy other games, lol.

In my case, my sister already owned the game and she was actually been playing it before with a friend of hers so she knew the whole story but since she was really impressed by the game, she wanted to replay it with me which was my pleasure to.

Personally, I decided to play with Leo (which is the one from the right in the picture from above), that was also the character my sister played with when she first completed the game, so it was a good opportunity for her to do the work with Vincent too.

Anyway, while there will be lots of ups and downs, challenges and tasks to be completed together, you'll notice that the more you advance in the game, the more emotional it will become, with lots of twists and things you will never expect from a game.

In my opinion, the biggest challenge is having trust, especially in one person who just joined the prison and already wants to escape from it, which even though is might sound a little bit suspicious at first, you will notice that it's impossible to escape alone and the closer you get to freedom, the more trust you will have to invest in that relationship.

A little bit before I mentioned that you can play the game completely free and without purchasing it if your friends own it but this also comes with a little price, namely the one that you won't manage to take in-game screenshots, which is more of a pain for those who love doing it during a walkthrough. That's also why you won't be able to see pictures of the game taken by me as I used you because the game was owned only by my sister.

However, as I always say - I will try to stay away from giving any spoilers because the game it's really worth being played by everyone especially since it's inspired by a real event, which is another proof that having trust in people can become a really dangerous game, but hey! It's never too late to learn something new. šŸ˜€

For me, it's been the first time playing a game inspired by a true story so it did have a big impact on me. The funny thing is that even though my sister already knew the story and she said she also cried quite a lot the first time she completed it, we both ended up in tears once again! šŸ˜…

Conclusions šŸ¤”

The game is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows so there can't be an excuse for not being able to play it! It also won the BAFTA award for the Best Online - Multiplayer game, so do make sure to check it out if you haven't already. šŸ˜Ž

Even though the game was released in 2018, it only requires a minimum of GTX 960/AMD R9 290 or equivalent in order to enjoy it at its best quality, which might not be too realistic or like those we got used to in the past few years, but which will touch you differently with the quality of the story.

Being able to play it for free is another unusual but yet so interesting feature that I think more people should take advantage of. So A Way Out comes with another plus that most of the other co-op games out there right now don't have.

It takes only around 7 hours to complete the game, which might look too long or too short for some people, but from the first minutes of the play you will see that you can't stop playing it until you find the whole story, so in my opinion, the length of the game is just right.

Did you try it? šŸ˜

While I already said for a few times that I cried quite a lot on playing this one, now I'm curious to find what other hivers completed the game and how much they cried on the game because I think it's impossible not to get touched by the course of the story, so... did you play A Way Out? šŸ˜„

Oh, and let's not forget that even though it was a game released on Origin since EA came back on Steam, A Way Out became available on the market of this platform too, so the single thing left is to pick your platform and go for beating an impressive game! šŸ˜‡
