Shedding a Tear at the Gas Station

I have a long commute. A very long commute. Over 100 miles a day. So, these sky high gas prices are an issue for me.

Last several months running, I paid $300 and above monthly for gas alone. I also had massive car repair bills in 2021 (car hit 10 years old, everything’s going). So that’s that. Gotta drive to work and gotta work to eat and all that.

This month, it’ll be more like $400. Maybe more. $4.299 per gallon was the cheapest I could find yesterday; surprisingly at Mobil, usually a premium gas station. My car isn’t very gas efficient, but it’s still cheaper than buying a new (used) car at today’s prices. This photo shows the price of a single fill-up. I fill up 2-3 times a week (though admittedly not usually as much as this time).

This is just me griping about the gas prices at the pump. I’m not going to comment on current events or strong personalities. Or even drilling into icy states. Just… these prices are making me shed an inner tear. I do use a rewards credit card, but still…. At some point, I may figure out that getting an apartment close to work is cheaper than paying the gas. Isn’t that a scary thought.

Thanks for listening to me cry about gas prices! Have a happy weekend everyone!
