This article is continuations of Red Hot Chili Farm # part one and i want to share my experience in chili farm.
Red chili is one of the most attractive agricultural commodities. At certain moments, the price could go up manifold. At other moments can go down to worthless. This makes the cultivation of red peppers is a challenge for farmers.
Besides fluctuation price, chili cultivation is quite vulnerable to weather conditions and pests. To minimize all of these risks, the cost for chili cultivation can be quite high.
On this occasion, I tried to explain the steps that must be prepared for the cultivation of red peppers, especially for the election of cropland types of red chilies (Capsicum annum L). These plants come from the Americas tropical and subtropical. From here spread to many other hemisphere.
The climatic condition in Indonesia is suitable for chili cultivation where the sun shines full. This plant can grow well in lowlands up to an altitude of 1400 meters above sea level. In the highlands, chili can still grow but production was not optimal.
The optimal temperature for the growth of red pepper, between 24-28 degrees Celsius. At temperatures that are too cold below 15 or heat above 32 growth will be disturbed. Chilies can grow in dry season irrigation of origin to get enough. Rainfall desired ranges from 800-2000 mm per year with 80% humidity.
In the selection of our agricultural land for chili farm we did it by seriously, especially in terms of the acidity of the soil and the topography of the land. We expect our pepper plants will flourish in the land that suitable for chili farming, have a source of water or close to water sources and conditions are also free from flooding.
