Gardening Season 2021 - Another May Update (May 8)

Welcome to another garden update where I'll share some photos I took yesterday.

These days we moved pre-planted cucumbers from the greenhouse to the garden, we also planted two more kinds of green peas as now is the right time to plant those and we decided to plant some corn after many years of not having them in our garden. Next week we will continue to clean up the garden from grass so everything can grow nicely and it's easier to maintain.

I am noticing more cherries on few of our trees...

A peek inside the plastic covers, in this one we have tomato and it's looking good. When they grow a bit more, we will remove all of the plastic protection that kept the veggies safe from different weather conditions.

We added this plastic cover and planted cucumbers in circles in the middle. We did the same thing last season and it worked really well. These are cornichon kind, we use them to make pickles for winter but we also grow 'regular' cucumbers that we love to use for salads.

Here are the pre-potted cucumbers now moved to the garden and protected with plastic covers too.

Zucchini only takes up two small rows but it's enough for us and we even have some extra to give to our neighbors sometimes as it's one of those veggies that does really well in our garden over the seasons.

Potatoes are not having the best season (so far) but I guess we'll wait and see... It's one of the most used veggies in our family so I hope we'll manage to have a decent harvest when the time comes.

Plums trees at the end of the garden on a nice, sunny day.

As weird as it might sound, looking at spring onions is the most satisfying things in our garden - they are all lined up nicely!

Baby peaches looking fuzzy! :)

Small fig tree my mom planted from the many offspring of our big fig tree in front of our house. We thought it might not survive winter but I guess we were wrong! :)

And here is the big fig tree, I cannot wait for it to get all green and pretty.

To end today's post, I want to share this photo of flower that grew between the concrete steps. Even though we have flowers nearby, I still have no idea how they got at this spot but it looks pretty cool!

Thank you all so much for reading and have an amazing Sunday!
