Black Guerilla Family - BGF - Notorious Street and Prison Gang

Forming when the Black Power movement was prominent and gang activity was rampant in the California Department of Corrections, the Black Guerilla Family is now a dangerous prison and street gang. Founded in 1966 by George Jackson a former Black Panther Party member and another fellow inmate in San Quentin with the vision of maintaining dignity in prison, ending racism and overthrowing the American government, the Black Guerilla Family is one of the most notorious African American prison gangs to date. Since its inception the BGF has been claimed to have been responsible in BPP’s Founding Member, Huey Newton’s Death and teaming up with the Bloods and Crips in the 2015 Baltimore riots. Moreover, BGF member Tevon White was accused of running a Baltimore prison and impregnating 4 female correctional officers who he used to smuggle contraband. Inside prison, BGF is an active opponent of the Aryan Brotherhood, Mexican Mafia, the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas, and the Texas Syndicate. BGF has been known to recruit from street gangs like the Bloods, Crips, and Black Gangster Disciples when members are imprisoned, and required lifelong allegiance to the gang. Now BGF is known for having an especially strong foothold in the Maryland correctional system.
