What is Dirty Bomb?

Dirty Bomb is a free-to-play fast paced first person shooter set in a post-apocalyptic London, developed by Splash Damage and published by Nexon and WarChest. Dirty Bomb has a large variety of different classes to choose from, including Medic, Recon, Fire Support, Mechanic/Engineer, and Assault. Each class has a different amount of health along with different movement speeds to compliment their healthpools. Dirty bomb currently has a total of 20 characters, including their newest edition, Turtle.

Classes:

1.) Assault

  • The Assault class primarily focuses on clearing out enemy players, in order to help their team move the objective along. Assault classes also have abilities such as frag grenades, flashbangs, and grenade launchers.
  • Fragger, Thunder, Nader, and Rhino are the only Assault mercs currently available.

2.) Medic

  • Medics can revive and heal their downed teammates quickly and efficiently, using their defibrillators and health stations/packs to keep them in the fight.
  • Aura, Sawbones, Phoenix, and Sparks are the only Medics currently available.

3.) Fire Support

  • Fire Support mercs have the ability to dispense ammo to their teammate whether it be through tossing out ammo packs or dropping down an ammo station. Fire Supports also have certain abilities such as airstrikes, molotovs, and orbital lasers.
  • Skyhammer, Stoker, Arty, and Kira are the only Fire Support mercs currently available.

4.) Engineer/Mechanic

  • Engineers can repair and plant objectives faster than any other merc. They also have defensive abilities such as mines, turrets, and energy shields that can be planted on or around an objective to prevent the enemy team from achieving their objective.
  • Fletcher, Proxy, Turtle, and Bushwhacker are the only Engineer mercs currently available.

5.) Recon

  • Recons are sniper/stealth classes that can either pick enemies off from a distance or take them out from behind.
  • Phantom, Aimee, Red Eye, and Vassili are the only Recon mercs currently available.

Loadout Cards

What are Loadout Cards?

Loadout Cards are in-game items that allow you to change your merc's abilities, weapons, and skins.

How can I obtain Loadout Cards?

Loadout cards can be obtained in a variety of ways, such as drops from cases, bought from the store with credits or real world currency, or traded up to using Fragments (Dirty Bomb's current crafting system currency).

Gameplay

Dirty Bomb's gameplay is a very unique experience, as the movement is very fluid and natural. Dirty Bomb also requires teamwork due to it being objective based. Gunplay is primarily focused on skill (Of course), and headshots are a must in order to get kills.

Game Modes

There are multiple game modes in Dirty Bomb. Consisting of Objective, Stop Watch, and Execution.
Objective is a simple match of one team attacking while the other team defends the objective. Stop Watch is the same as Objective except that the teams will switch sides at Mid-Game. Execution is a match where both teams are competing to win the most out of 12 rounds. In order for a team to win a round, teams can either eliminate the entire opposing team, or successfully destroy/defend the objective depending on whether they are attackers or defenders. There is also Competitive which is basically Stop Watch but with its own ranking system.

Grinding

I can not say that there is not a lot of grinding since mercs cost 30,000 to 50,000 credits. However, there are missions that reset every two hours which when completed can award the player anywhere from 500 to 1,000 credits per mission.

Is it Pay-To-Win?

Due to Dirty Bomb being free-to-play and a FPS most people would just assume that Dirty Bomb is pay-to-win. Well, I am glad to inform you that it certainly is not. While Dirty Bomb does have some RNG elements to it, it is not the only way to acquire loadout cards in the game. Needless to say, you can speed up the grinding process by purchasing credit boosters (these can also be unboxed in Arsenal crates which you obtain from leveling up) and crafting kits. None of which can cause a player to have an advantage over other players though.

Final Verdict

I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of other fast-paced games such as Team Fortress 2, Overwatch, or Quake.
Afterall this game is free-to-play so there is nothing to lose.
