No doubt, the game of shooting with the background of world war to be most distant-later by most gamers. At least that's what is reflected in comments on YouTube when the inaugural Battlefield 1 trailer was released a few months ago. Not without cause, gamers were bored with a futuristic-themed war that was presented in some shooting games lately. Therefore, the emergence of Battlefield 1 as if to bring fresh air for lovers shooter game genre.

Battlefield 1 emerged as a continuation of previous Battlefield games, namely Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline. For the latter, many are judging if the Battlefield Hardline becomes a failed Battlefield series. In its development, game publisher Electronic Arts took its subscription developer, DICE, who was previously trusted to work on Battlefield games. Battlefield 1 takes you across the historic conflicts most rarely raised into game form, World War I.

Almost most of the FPS genre lover gamers will likely have one look at the same rivalry between the two gaming fPS giants - Battlefield of EA and Call of Duty from Activision. Battlefield for multiplayer and Call of Duty for single player, a statement you've certainly heard before. Admittedly, single player is EA's greatest "bogey" and DICE for previous Battlefield series because of the story and dramatization that never can produce an iconic and memorable experience like Call of Duty. The latest series - Battlefield 1 has great potential to "fix" it. A unique world-first war theme is waiting for them to take advantage of. The good news? You need not worry much.

It's hard not to talk about a new EA release game without talking about the qualified visual qualities that he always includes thanks to the incredible Frostbite Engine power. The same is true in Battlefield 1. The visual details that spoil the eye with the visual effects of explosions and a bit of dramatization here and there, this game looks stunning on the PlayStation 4. Platforms are of course inferior performance compared to PCs, curious us how "sweet" visual this game on that platform. EA and DICE succeeded in not only offering the details, but also blending the world's first hard and merciless world of warfare with the best of it. Explosions, battlefields that are no longer shaped, until brutality is shown straightforwardly.

So, what are DICE and EA doing to make this Battlefield 1 single player feel better? Fulfill the promise they had made to the media some time ago, that this series will not focus on war, but on people who are caught in this ugly situation. Instead of just one story, they decided to split this short-lived campaign mode into five stories with each different conflict. Interesting again? Due to the different themes available, each of these stories also successfully offers a different playing experience. As an example? There is one mission in which the tanks become the focus, and in other missions, the air combat is the ultimate one. There are variations there.

DICE's focus on making the interaction between the people involved and striving to contribute to the party they presented in this first world war paid off nicely. Although there are some game points that make the semi-open-world scheme familiar and repetitive at the same time, they manage to make each of them feel more emotional and personal. How effective is the story method with extra cut-scene in the middle of this? Believe it or not, enough to get you to build an emotional attachment with a tank. That's right, you do not misread, a tank.

All the fresh screenshots from the oven you find in this preview article come from single player mode. We ourselves have not yet decided whether to load separate preview articles for multiplayer modes that we have not jajal or incorporated directly in later review articles. Extra review time in the next week we will use to focus in that mode. Beautiful brutality.

Battlefield 1: Meet the Hype!

Source

Answering what the gamer wants, that first impression seems to emerge from what DICE and EA are trying to do with the latest Battlefield series - Battlefield 1. Ignore the strange name that might end up confusing, especially with the fourth and third series that seem to stick strongly in the mind many gamers today. The number "1" was chosen and taken to represent the theme he took - the first World War. A concept that not only succeeded in making them so amazing via the original trailer with the strains of the Seven Nation Army remix from the White Stripes but also executed sweetly in the final version. That this is a clear answer to the demands of gamers who have long wanted the return of the classic war theme. An adequate answer to make your hair goosebumps.

For the version of PlayStation 4 which in fact not exactly as the strongest gaming platform on the market alone, Frostbite Engine's ability to show off the visual quality with great detail and dramatic destructive effects look dazzling. The approach of campaign mode Battlefield 1 does make this series feel unique and more personal, something they never took before. Unfortunately in the preview article yesterday, we did not touch the multiplayer mode at all.

So, what is actually offered by this Battlefield 1? Why do we call it a game that meets the hype? This review will discuss it more deeply for you with an extra set of screenshots of the multiplayer mode that we have not included in the previous preview article in the last section. Here's a review from JagatPlay:

There are so many FPS games scattered over the existence of modern gaming platforms, one or two generations before. Apart from all the background stories that are carried, almost all franchises that carry the theme of modern or classic war always position you as one or more main characters, who are involved in one major conflict and play a super significant role in it. You could be a soldier who helps prevent cold war between China and the United States, thwart nuclear war plans from a group of terrorists, even help your country win the war with one or two actions. There's a cliche tendency there, something, fortunately, not offered by Battlefield 1.

Source

Instead of following just one or two characters, Battlefield 1 instantly takes you to the story of 5 characters, from 5 different parts of the world, with 5 focus stories all linked by one common thread - the First World War. One story asks you to act as a personal driver who now has to control a big tank named "Big Bess" in a difficult war situation, one story asking you to control the plane and make it the focus of the story, while another takes you to the fight of a female soldier against Ottoman power in the dry desert.

One of the highlights of each of these stories is the effort of DICE and EA to make it an even more personal experience, rather than a typical war game you've known. They clearly prove their claim that the focus of this campaign is not to show you how big the scale of the war is, but to explore how those who are willing or unwilling to engage must pass through the destructive footsteps that he rack.

So, how the end of the story for each plot offered by Battlefield 1? Why would you feel a more personal and emotional taste in each of them? You can find answers to these questions by playing this Battlefield 1.

Almost most of us have known and understand how tough Frostbite Engine in the gaming industry. DICE engine as a mainstay of this does have a powerful image not only as an engine capable of presenting the quality of dazzling visualization with good detail only but also with the effects of destruction that also affect the gameplay is. In Battlefield 1, the Frostbite Engine becomes part and the basis of one of its best attractions - the atmosphere.

The atmosphere is good for single player mode or multiplayer Battlefield 1 is one of the best in its class. How cool? Enough to make you feel like you're actively engaged in the middle of an intense battle that is intense, especially in multiplayer mode. In single player mode, you enjoy this atmosphere more linearly. There are houses that can be destroyed, dazzling lighting effects here and there, and various visual effects like just dust or fog that do appear as part of the scenario. But the atmosphere of his multiplayer mode is what makes us fall in love. Especially from the design setting for every fantastic, solid map, it contains many potential devastations, to other "little" things you may never have noticed before.

Source

it talks about the many elements that contribute, from small things like weapon sounds to more significant things like the destruction of buildings and the accompanying dust. Enjoying a war in the middle of a forest, in the middle of town, or even on a mountain becomes a fantastic war experience. You can see how the dust is scattered when the tank fires the existing heavy weapons, or sparks when one of its parts is damaged, sees the messy ruins of a house so that it will no longer be able to hide anyone in it, until just the heavy rain that flushed as you tried to hide in in the middle of a bullet exchanged over the head. The execution of each presentation of this element resulted in a proper presentation for not only two thumbs up, but four if we had to use our feet though.

As a gamer who does not really understand or deep knowledge about the first World War in the real world, we ourselves can not comment much about how accurate the elements that are injected DICE in Battlefield 1 this. We have heard that there are many new experimental weapons just undergoing trials in World War I ended up being a weapon that can be enjoyed in this Battlefield 1. Departing like a blank canvas without a thorough knowledge of World War I (which of course we can not be proud of), we enjoyed the visual presentations. If you are familiar enough or deep, you may feel something different.

But in general, the visual power of Battlefield 1 is no longer just rooted in how well Frostbite Engine again. Here, Frosbite is just one of the many ingredients that DICE has successfully crafted and melted for one purpose - creating a brutal, destructive, dramatic, yet on the other side of the World War I atmosphere - still enjoyable to enjoy.

Personal and Unique

Before we continue to talk about the multiplayer mode that has been the key to Battlefield as a franchise, we must discuss the campaign mode that is also included in Battlefield 1. Compared with the competitors - Call of Duty, single player mode Battlefield never succeeded in producing something memorable and keep in mind gamers. You still remember the main character you use in Battlefield 3? We can bet, most of you can not even remember what kind of story he has to offer regardless of how clothed he plot story is. The good news? DICE and EA are struggling to offer something new and different from Battlefield 1.

As we mentioned earlier, the Battlefield 1 plot is told from the perspective of 5 different characters. But unlike the usual FPS games that used to position the main character as the key to victory of war or world peace achieved, Battlefield 1 focuses more on telling each other's struggles from the eyes of an ordinary man who is involved in a big war rationally, of course involving so many parties and not just depending on what they or they do not do. The result is a scenario that feels more rational, at least at some point. Does this formula work? Yes and no.

Source

The results are mixed. There are some scenarios that make us fall in love from the side of the story but not too fond of his monotonous gameplay, while others just the opposite. As an example? Through Mud and Blood that tells a Big Bess tank as the focus. DICE managed to build an amazingly unique story on it, showing an amazing emotional attachment, you can feel quite realistic with the tanks they drive, in this case - Big Bess. You fully understand that without this armored vehicle, this crew is nothing and easy to be a victim of the great war that happened. Big Bess became their only "angel of salvation", but on the other hand, they are also controlling it. The dynamics and efforts to personalize a giant tank were successful. At the end of the story, we fell in love with Big Bess. That's right, you did not read it wrong, we fell in love with a tank!

But on the other hand, there are some scenarios whose stories end up more interesting than gameplay, like The Runner which turns out to be the scenario of a standard FPS game that is not special. But the story itself? Fantastic and emotional. Or a scenario that has a super fun gameplay, but has a confusing story like Friends in High Places that is full of super-cool wars dramatizations, but ends with characters and stories that are difficult to build certain emotional closeness. End of story? Battlefield 1 feels like an experimental test on the story mode that EA and DICE throw. Unique, personal, and never before is the most appropriate conclusion. Special? Yes in some scenarios, and not at some other.

So from the value of uniqueness and the effort to innovate this DICE entitled to get extra points. Battlefield 1 campaign mode is not perfect yet and is super short, but for some scenarios in our eyes, it's easy to subdue the previous series campaign modes like Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, or Battlefield Hardline that we no longer remember the premise and character. At least in Battlefield 1, there is a Big Bess that will forever burn in the brain.

Source

The only weakness is the reluctance of DICE to bring the war perspective of the opposing party in campaign mode. The fact that you are only playing the countries of the Allies certainly provokes a big question mark, despite the fact that there is a stronger and more interesting story potential if we portray the Ottoman army for example. Some things that are not authentic like the characters who speak English apart from the conditions of war that occur in other parts of the world also slightly grasp the authentic taste that should be able to make this single player mode, ending far far more perfect than the current conditions.
