Brigitte, daughter of Torbjorn, is the newest Overwatch hero, this is the 27th playable hero for this Blizzard FPS game.
Father & Daughter:
Brigitte is described by lead developer Jeff Kaplan "she is a support character, first and foremost, but she also shares lots of traits that fit the tank role."
...Interesting.
Apparently Brigitte will have a personal shield, which can be deployed for her own protection, and presumably as a defence for anyone behind her, however it is described as a "personal" shield, which implies limited utility with respect to full team protection.
Personal Barrier Shield:
Brigitte has a "rocket flail", Kaplan describes this as "it has a very good range to it even though it is a melee weapon. It extends out, it can hit characters pretty far away, and she has an ability called 'whip-shot', that can send the rocket flail even further out, doing a lot of damage and knocking enemies back."
Rocket Flail:
She can also send out the "Repair-pack" to any ally which will either repair damage or apply armour above their usual max hit points! Very cool. This skill is on cool down and will only last for a short time so the armour will wear off with time.
Also Brigitte can heal through her passive "Inspire" which will apply heal over time in a large radius to nearby allies, while Brigitte is doing damage to an enemy.
Last but not least her ultimate ability "Rally", which will apply armour to all her nearby allies as well as which will increase her movement speed, not unlike her father Torbjorn's ultimate.
All in all this new character is very exciting to me. We were told she would be meta-defining and I think this seems to have proven true. The game has been lacking both healers and tanks and so this addition is welcome, but to offer that in one package is awesome.
I for one can't wait to try Brigitte out.
