Its not hard to believe that that gaming journalism and games media has a giant gap inbetween real gamers. When you look at magazines like EGM or Nintendo Power everyone had fun reading about new games, looking at fan art, or even reading short strategy guides for difficult or popular titles.
To think that the video games industry is more dominant then ever before and the that current leading gaming magazine is basically being forced onto gamers as an add on for a tier 2 membership perk at gamestop is laughable. Most of these membership holders have told me they have cancelled their FREE subscription that is inculded with their gamestop membership or they have a giant pile of magazines somewhere in their house that they dont bother to look at.
This is ridiculous, yet completely understandable. Ive read the last 12 issues and i can't shake the feeling that when i read the magazine im being lectured or sold something i dont want. In 3 out of the last 4 issues, i read articles that were about women in gaming. Mind you these articles werent about ACTUAL women in the gaming indusrty we know about or women in the fighting game community. But rather start up companies for games no one has heard of. Or how about the editor in chief telling us right at the beginning of an issue that the Nintendo Switch is an amazing gaming system, and he doesnt care what valid criticisms you have for him. Coincidentally that same issue has ads for Nintendo Switch games that we already played on the Wii U.
That same editor in chief has told viewers of his magazine that he doesnt care if you dont want to read about politics. Politics are part of the world and so is gaming so fuck you heres another Nintendo ad you loser piece of shit asshole. I went to COLLEGE FOR JOURNALISM. SUCK MY COCK........
By the way this was a false narrative. People complained about the drama and politics being shoved into the gaming industry. Editor in chief ass face equated this as "Duuuuuh ,Politics are a real thing. Look at how the cops treat the black guy in Mafia 3. You sayin you dont your games to be historically accurate?"
I can imagine how excited i was to get my hands on a gaming magazine as a kid. To read about the first Shenmue or even read a review for Chrono Cross. I remember a contest to get an N64, 4 controllers, Mario Party, And FREE PIZZA!!!! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! In the last 4 years my little brother hasnt ever told me about anything like that. These magazines arent interesting anymore. Theyre not fun...and people who dont like video games are the ones writing for them.
