Rift Life - Issue #6 - TL, you're killing me here...

Hey there, I’m Tate (aka captenredbeard). As part of the ‘Rift Life’ NALCS blog series, I’ll be chatting about week 5 games. The landing page for this week’s issue can be found HERE

What happened in week 5?!

SPOILERS FOR NA LCS AHEAD

Let's take a look at my predictions and outcomes from last weekend.

Another week with an interesting upset. I wasn't sure about the OPT vs. GGS game, and same thing for the C9 vs. FOX game. So, being wrong on those two was somewhat expected.

That being said....TL loses to GGS? Seriously? What is going on in this league. One of the top 3 teams losing to the bottom team is such a huge upset. It feels as if the combination of brand new teams, the Best of 1's format, and talent being spread around really has made this a league where anything can happen, and any team has some chance to get into playoffs.

In general the games went as expected. Clutch ending their weekend with another 2-0 set, really exciting to see these guys doing well after some missteps. C9 got defeated a bit more handily than I expected based on FOX's previous games being a bit random.

Now that the season is halfway over, let's take a look at the official standings.

Echo Fox secures their spot as #1, followed by Cloud9, with my boys Clutch coming up big along with Team Liquid in 3rd. It's really pretty amazing how only a couple games are separating these teams. I don't think anyone expected Clutch to be sitting in third, but it looks like TSM is still performing terribly, and 100 thieves are on a downward trend.

All things considered, this is what I think will happen next week. I'm fully behind Clutch for this week. (ready to get rekt @morganaleflaye ?) I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict TL comes out swinging this week, and takes down both opponents.
