Definitive Version of Fire Pro Wrestling World Has Been Decided

Fans of wrestling games have had to settle for the one WWE game that we get each year to squelch their thirst for squared circle action. That is because, well, WWE bought out their only real competition over a decade ago when they purchased WCW from AOL Time Warner (who wanted nothing to do with “wrasslin”). Anyhow, it seems that the definitive version of Fire Pro Wrestling World has been revealed already.

If you own a PlayStation 4 then you are in luck because your version of Fire Pro Wrestling World is essentially the “Game of the Year” edition which will feature all available Downloadable Content (DLC). Everyone else, well, not so much.
Here are the details that have been spread out across a couple of Twitter accounts recently – collected by our friends at PSU.com -

• PS4 version will essentially be the ‘Game of the Year’ edition, featuring all DLC.
• Inclusion of NJPW license is to help attract a wider audience.
• Despite that, Fire Pro Wrestling World will still be completely customisable as before.
• That includes the NJPW roster.
• NJPW roster size is undecided as yet.
• Crossover overseas wrestlers (Cody Rhodes, Will Opsreay, Young Bucks) likely to feature.
• The Story Mode has branching paths based on player choice.
• Future DLC could expand Story Mode further to include more weight classes.
• Spike Chunsoft aren’t ruling out bringing in other wrestling promotions beyond NJPW.
• There’s still some ‘huge news’ to come!

Even better, it seems that New Japan Pro Wrestling has joined the game and will see their superstars available for play. To make that even more cool is that this deal is not exclusive so other companies such as Ring of Honor, or maybe even TNA or the NWA, could sign similar deals to have their athletes represented in Fire Pro Wrestling World. Now that would be awesome to see Fire Pro Wrestling World become the “Super Bowl” of wrestling – something I thought Wrestlemania would be great to be but, well, WWE doesn’t like true competition or promoting “other” wrestling companies.
