#funfarmfacts Contest!!!!
Since being on Steemit, I have seen many contests and challenges being given and I have been inspired to do my own! The goal is to share a few photos based on something you have on your homestead or farm and 6-10 interesting facts about that content. I thought it would be a great way to learn, teach, and serve the steemit community and #homesteadersonline !
The Rules
Post 3-5 photos of something on your homestead you do to thrive, and a list of neat facts (6-10 facts) about those photos.
Use #funfarmfacts in your post AND
use funfarmfacts as one of your tags.
Here is a basic example:
#funfarmfacts about Coturnix Quail
- Coturnix quail are also commonly known as Japanese Quail.
- Coturnix quail are the oldest documented domesticated poultry, even pre-dating modern chickens.
- Female coturnix, when given 14 hours of light every day, will lay up to 300 eggs a year.
- Quail eggs are higher in protein and contain no "bad" cholesterol.
- Coturnix grow fast. They hatch in only 17 days, and fully grown in 8 weeks.
- Only the boys are loud. They have a distinctive "crow" that the females do not have.
- Quail are hardy birds. In most climates, they can survive most temps so long as they have a place to stay out of the wind and weather.
- Quail need a high protein (25% or higher) diet.
