Mondays in March can get a little rainy but then again, spring is almost here and that is what spring does. It gives you rain and it gives you sun after that. Our metaphorical sun this week is Utopian with their amazing project about building a colony and empowering open source innovation, something that has opened a bright shiny passage to the future and already has one foot outside the door.

Utopian was founded in Sept. 2017 as a proof-of-concept platform on the Steem blockchain. It has facilitated 70,000 contributions to over 9,000 open source repositories, of which many have supported and still support the growth of Steem based DApps. Their mission is to change the inclusiveness of open source innovation and help content creators, translators, graphic designers and many other digital professionals to connect and collaborate on open source projects.

The colony stands for sharing code, knowledge, and experience and will encourage users to share their best tutorials, blog posts and relevant content by tipping and incenting publishers of engaging content. You can share what you do, receive tips for it and tip others. There will even be a Bounty exchange where you will have access to the power of collective financing and the crowdsourcing of development. Community chat will provide you with an integrated messaging system to connect users and teams, you will have a secure virtual wallet for instant access to donations and tips and the Opportunity Explorer feeds which will help you discover your next passion, and connect with recruiters, investors, and partners. Amazed and interested? So are we and we are also pretty excited to see it launched. The plan is to have an alpha released before the end of Q2-2019 and public beta release no later than Q3-2019. The amount of funds this project needs is $35 000 and it will be used for the completion of the development of the Utopian Colony. Since the transparency standards are pretty high with the open source part of the story, you can check their progress at any time by simply visiting them on Github.
