I have a day job that takes up one-third of my day. After work, I have freelance tutorials for a couple of hours. I know I shouldn't have much energy left for the latter, but it somehow fuels me. That's 'coz I enjoy the teaching and learning experience. It sparks my mind and opens it up to make room for creativity.

I've written over a number of essays, poems, short stories, and the like over the years. They were passed on as homework assignments of my students. This past week was no exception.

A poetry reading prompt! How timely indeed! I've written a few short poems for one of my students. I've been thinking of how, when, and where to share them. This, I suppose, is the perfect venue.

The first poem follows the format of a sestet...

"In misery she waits
For the one she loves
Longing earnestly that fates
be kind and prays above
that her beloved will find
his love for her in his own mind."

The second poem follows the format of a sonnet...

"All by myself, sitting in a corner
Looking around for familiar faces
Watching people passing by here and there
Lovers, moms, dads, and children with braces,
Happy faces, sad ones too, all the same
but so different. We are all unique
individuals struggling in this life's game.
Yet somehow what is it we seek?
Riches and fame, add power to that too,
is that enough to give life some meaning?
Happiness and contentment can find you
When you are thankful for your life's blessing.
Find your purpose in this circle of life.
Do things that matter and ev'rything will be all right."

The second photo is from my copy of "Personal Time" cards. I feature this series once a week on my Tumblr site.
