Freedom of speech is freedom which refers to a right to speak freely without censorship or restriction but in this case is not included in the matter of spreading hatred. can be identified by the term freedom of expression [1] which is sometimes used to denote not only the freedom of spoken speech, but in the act of seeking, receiving and part of whatever information or idea is being used. although Freedom of speech and freedom of expression are closely related to a freedom, yet different and unrelated to the concept of freedom of thought or freedom of conscience.
History has proved that every advancement in society always begins with great figures who seek to challenge the assumptions, views, beliefs, and social norms prevailing in their day, which often end tragically.
The Western world, at present, is known as a place that greatly upholds the right to free speech. The freedom to express opinions and exchange ideas and ideas is considered one of the most valued values of society in Western Europe and North America. Therefore, it is not surprising that important documents in the political development of Western countries, especially since the era of enlightenment in the 18th century, always contained the importance of the right to free speech.
However, is it true that the Western world at this time is so? Is the right to freedom of speech still something that European and American societies uphold? Or is it possible that these rights are only ancient values of the enlightened age that are no longer suitable in the modern era?
