The winner of the 2018 Formula 1 Championship, the first race in the Australian Grand Prix, was Ferrari pilot Sebastian Vettel.

Lewis Hamilton, who started the race from the pole position, managed to maintain his position as comfortable as the pit stop. After pit stops, Hamilton, who was in front of his main rival, Kimi Raikkonen, was disappointed after being driven on the runway by the problem of Haas pilot Romain Grosjean, caused by the Virtual Security Vehicle.

Sebastian Vettel, who was in third place from the start of the race, continued on the road, not entering the pit at the same time as the two names in front. As a leader, Vettel came to the pit using the advantage of the virtual security tool and succeeded in returning as a leader.

After the virtual security vehicle entered the race safety tool, the Haas vehicle could only be removed in this way.

After the race was resumed, leader Vettel and 2nd place Hamilton shortened the group from the rear group and continued fighting for around 1 second. Hamilton, however, did not get a realistic chance of making a switch and made a slight mistake to make the difference open. Hamilton tried to close the gap once again, but not too soon, he narrowed down the engine and agreed instead.

Vettel succeeded in winning the first race of the season, the Australian Grand Prix. Hamilton was Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari, who finished the podium as he started the season second. Raikkonen succeeded in maintaining his position in the last episode when he was exposed to Red Bull by Daniel Ricciardo for a long time. Ricciardo, once again, had not been in the podium at his own home.
