When to Walk Away: Setting Boundaries and Valuing Yourself

There are times and places that you have done all that you can to fix a problem. These problems keep cropping up time and time again. Often this can be in the form of abuse or addiction, or a person simply will not respect the boundaries that have been set.

There are times when people have repeatedly taken advantage of you and what you provide. This is when you need to simply walk away. It can appear to be rude and often the person you are walking away from will perceive it to be rude and inconsiderate. Yet the question is what are your thoughts of the circumstance? Was walking away needed? Then everybody who thinks you are being unreasonable is just sharing their thoughts about their view of the circumstance.

The times that you find yourself in a place where you have to walk away can be because you have lacked intention in living your life and you blindly flowed from one relationship to another. Often Nice Guys are in this predicament because they do not want to stand firm for their beliefs out of fear that their beliefs might upset someone. So they are taken advantage of repeatedly and find themselves feeling resentful for the times they have been treated as a doormat.

When you start to value your time and who you stand for you start finding that walking away isn't disrespectful but highly respectful of yourself. When you respect yourself it shones out for everyone else to see. They understand that your time isn't something that can be trifled with and you are intentional in how you spend this precious commodity. When you care for yourself you become an example to people of what they are able to do too. Your intentional handling of your time and power shows people that they need to learn how to care for their own selves and not just throw their time away.
