Three Times So Top Bundesliga Skorer, Lewandowski Carving History


Munich - Robert Lewandowski completes the success of Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga 2017/2018 by winning the title of top scorer. Lewandowski also made a new history.

Lewandowski did not score when Bayern defeated Stuttgart 1-4 in the last Bundesliga game on Saturday (5/12/2018) night local time. But the Polish striker has not been overtaken on top of the list of top scorers with 29 goals.

Lewandowski practically got no rivals after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang moved to Arsenal in the January transfer window. Lewandowski even excelled far from Freiburg striker Nils Petersen, who was second with 15 goals.

This became the third Torjaegerkanone trophy for Lewandowski. Previously he reached it in 2013/2014 and 2015/2016.

"I am very happy to win this cannon again.This is always so extra appreciation, always special," said Lewandowski as quoted by the official club website.

"Thanks to the whole team, this trophy belongs to the whole team."

Three times winning this title, Lewandowski also carve out a new history. He became the first non-German player to become the Bundesliga's top scorer in three different seasons.

"I think winning this trophy for the third time is a great achievement, I underscore the quality, of course the team creates chances, but he can also chance because of the game.That is something you really can not learn," Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes said.
