The fragrant smell of the flowers made me take pause. I've been wrestling the summer heat and all I've heard was a squadron of fans and the AC for weeks. Turning off their noise, I finally heard what summer sounds like; the crickets singing. And with the windows finally open to cool air, the flowers' scent came in strongly. I had to wait til morning to see my flowering Hoya plant had transformed into a canopy of blooms above my patio couch.
