My son's flag obsession. Cute or dangerous?

Hello everyone! It's been a long time since I've posted. I hope to find everyone doing well.

My son Ayden is quite the popular kid in our town. Everywhere we go he get's recognized. But not as the kid with Downs Syndrome. Nope, he's known as the kid that loves flags. Ayden can't go anywhere without a flag. An American flag, a Cardinals flag, hell, flags from everywhere, anything that waves in the wind. It has become a security blanket of sorts. Like the silk blanket I carried around like Linus I called my "silky". We've all had that one thing we couldn't live without when we were kids. What I don't remember is if I gave silky up on my own or did I have it taken away. Reason I ask is because I don't know if I should let him keep the flags. Now, the town we live in is amazing. Everyone gives him flags. The bank, the PD, the FD, City Hall, different businesses and just random people. I think it's great. I really enjoy watching people light up in my son's presence but am I hurting him by letting him hold on to superficial items that honestly aren't important? I would really love your input.
