We must stop the absolute power in FISA! #stopfisa

C3D1355D-83F9-4B54-BE33-6039EBFCEE4C.jpegIn 1857, British Lord Acton famously coined the phrase, “Absolute power corrupts absolutely”. This proverbial saying captures the essence of problem with the current system of the American government spying on its own citizens.

If you were to take the time to review the Inspector General's recent report about the intentional manipulation, lies, and outright falsification of supporting documentation, it clearly highlights that something must be done to check the power of the American government to spy on its own citizens. If the government can do this to an billionaire’s presidential campaign, than what is to stop them from doing it to you and me.

I do not care what political party you identify with. I personally do not identify with either mainstream American party. This is a clear and present danger to American freedom and must stop. #stopfisa

Please join me in getting the word out that these abuses must stop. We can no longer trust the FBI to not abuse their absolute power when it comes to these FISA warrants. Furthermore, we can not trust the judges in this court to check and challenge the assertions the FBI makes in its applications.

The system only works when the courts can trust that the FBI is forthright and honest. There is no defense attorney to counter the arguments and assertions of the FBI. It is just them and the court.
The burden of proof is supposed to be so high that only rare and extenuating cases are supposed to allow the courts to approve the surveillance warrants of Americans. However, we can clearly see that this is not what happened, and it is scary.

I wonder how many other omissions, errors, and abuses we would find if a full review was done of the FISA court. We must do something to ensure that proper checks are placed on this process or the court itself is stopped. I personally and not willing to trade my liberty for personal safety from some boogie man terrorist. We must stand up and demand that our government follow its own constitution.

It may be hard to imagine that anyone one person can make a difference. I mean, it’s the American government right. Big brother does what big brother does. What can we do to stop it?

Politicians are fickle people whose very existence depends on the support of everyday people. If enough of us, raise enough fuss, ring enough phones, and hashtag enough posts, than they will no doubt have to listen, or at least pretend to.
