Early Harbinger of Spring (not the plant)

A corner of our house

The sun is powerful enough to melt snow on the roof despite daily maximum air temperatures well under freezing. The water has been flowing down during the day but has frozen quickly in the shade. Hence what you are looking at. The snow pusher is frozen to the ground. It's impossible to make it come off without taking a big risk of breaking it. Fortunately, it hasn't been snowing. Maybe I should try to melt the ice from around the edge of the snow pusher using boiling water, and do it sooner than later because the problem is probably becoming worse every day. The previous owners of the house had left it here. But I will never again leave it leaning against the wall at this spot again.

P.S. There exist a herb in North America that goes by the name Harbinger-of-spring (Erigenia bulbosa). It blooms from late February through early April.
