Secret Superstar - Movie review / Desire, Determination, Desipline

Hello all, on Thursday a highly anticipated Indian movie got released. It was "Secret Superstar". I did not have a lot of expectation for this film, as the trailer didn't had impressed me that much. But, I gave it a try and I was completely surprised, I was wrong and it was one of the best movies this year. The movie is directed by debutante Advait Chandan and has performances by Aamir Khan and Zaira Wasim.

Review:

The movie is about a girl Inisa Malik,  who belongs to a highly orthodox family and has a mother who loves her the most and a father who hates her presence. Inisa is a free minded kid and is a dreamer and she wants to become a singer. Her mother is very supportive about it, but her dad is ready to do anything to cut her wings. But, Inisa is not ready to take "no" for answer and is ready to fight.

Aamir Khan in this film is playing the role of a musician Shakthi Kumar, who is at his end of his carrier . He plays a pivotal role in making Insia's dreams come true . Aamir is usually known for his acting with a lot of perfection and focus. But, in this film his acting is much more relaxed and playful. And at times he will make you laugh like anything. His body language and the way he talks is just amazing. His presence on screen is enough to get spotlight on him. He steals the show.

Insia's mom will buy her a laptop and internet connection, Insia will use this as a way to show her talent. She thinks of uploading videos on Youtube, but she realizes that its not good if someone sees her face as she belongs to an orthodox family and on top of that her dad is not going to like it at all. Finally, when she lost all hope her mother will come up with a brilliant idea of wearing a hijab and sing.

The movie has many scenes that builds the character of Insia over time. One of my favorite scenes happen when she goes on a flight for the first time and her window seat will be occupied by someone else. When she asks for the seat he doesn't listen. But, she will fight for her seat till the person agrees. This scene is very simple, but it shows the depth of the drive she had inside her. She is fighter and she is gonna go and get it.

Her father is a very violent man and he just doesn't care about anyone. He will try every single move to destroy her dreams and make Insia fall on the ground. The movie is a great motivational film that every parents and kids should watch. This is not your usual motivational film, the story is unpredictable and it will keep you engaged.

Conclusion:

This is a movie you can watch with your entire family. A must watch for all ages of people. This movie will defiantly stay inside your head for a long time and you will be thinking about it.

When going get tough, The tough gets .... - 8/10
