This one is a piece written for something called lightening round. The idea is write a 99 word story or creative nonfiction everyday with the Merriam-Webstar word of the day. You have to use the word in the writing too.
The word of the day for today November 21 is fortitude.
Here's what I came up with.
"...may God grant the bereaved the fortitude to bear the loss. May eternal light shine upon..."
Her thoughts drifted as she watched the coffin waiting to be lowered into the ground. She hadn't meant for it to happen. She just wanted her to suffer. It was easy. She had watched her grandmother prepare the herbs many times. Too strong gave the opposite effect, she knew.
Her life was perfect before she came along. She ruined it by taking away things that were rightfully hers. Everything is okay now. It's all over, she thought as she threw in a flower.
